Patut ler...
Di suatu pagi, jam 8.30 pagi selepas 30 minit waktu kerja bermula. Dua orang Manager sedang berada di bilik mensyuarat sementara menunggu meeting pagi di mulakan. Manager A begitu tenang, berkeyakinan dan nampak begitu riang gembira.
Manager A : " Tenangnya rasa pagi ini,...jiwa rasa bahagia dan mood bagus, semuanya lancar pagi ni".
Manager B : " Iye ke?"..." Aku pagi ni deritalah, macam macam...line stoplah, Boss panggillah, shipment delay lay,customer complaint, ...budak budak memonteng mc lah , aduhai macam macam lah petaka pagi ni.
Manager A : " Biasalah tu, tapi kita kena cool dan jangan risau, tak boleh settle semua , settle kan satu satu dulu"
Manager B : " Huh, pagi tadi aku ada call kau, nak tanya pasal material yang department kau patut hantar malam tadi tapi tak sampai lagi,... line aku dah nak stop dah, bila boleh masuk ya.."?
Manager A : " Hei, iye ke kau ada call aku, tak dengar pun... emm nanti aku check hand phone , ada missed call tak".Alamak hai ...! , patut lah tenang aje pagi dan bahagia aje pagi ni, aku tertinggal hand phone, aduhai..."
Manager B : " Ceh... apa punya orang lah, cakap macam best aje... patut lah kata tenang aje pagi ni, asyik tersengih sengih, rupa nya tak bawak hand phone, Cis apa lah..."
Ha ha ha. Patut lah kawan tu happy aje pagi ni. Patut lah cool aje pagi ni, rupa nya tak bawak mobile phone.. Pas tu yang best nya , dia kasi nasihat pulak kat member dia. Adegan yang biasa berlaku. Berlaku juga pada saya. Bila balik ambil phone, is just that, I m lucky as my wife wil pick up the calls and read the sms as on behalf and replied accordingly if I left my mobile phone at home.
Tak ada pass word atau code tertentu untuk access my mobile phone message ataupun lain lain. It's all open. Even my kids can take the calls or reading messages. It's important as customer cannot wait for us.
Menjadi Manager atau pun penyelia, salah satu role kita ialah communicator. Management defined as " The Art og Getting Things Done Through Other People" . Therefore the primary role to get things done through other people is Communication. And to be specific, Effective Communication!. We need to get things done through people by giving instruction, telling them of the methods and also to listen feed back, issues and problems through communication. Mobile phone speed up communication.
Mobile phone is important when we are a Supervisor or even lower than that or higher than that. Make sure it is activated all the time. Being a HR Manager in my experience, never once I had off it. Even during bed time my phone will just beside me. Even holidays, it's 24 hours. My wife and kids were used to it. Mr 7 eleven nick name is common to me given by the employees. Simply my thinking wil be " If company is caught by fire, what will happen if i ignore the calls or just don't border with mobile phone management".
I just can't imagine if I don't border to manage my mobile phone properly and responding in a very inffecient manner to the coming calls, and company had caught by fire and I came to work the next day, being a Manager knowing nothing about the incident which had occured last night. The worst part, my Boss knows better than me on things happened which I were supposed to inform him and not vice versa. Wow !, that could be a hell of the day.
Any thing would happened. Emergency, fire, disaster, or death cases. Some may think that , mobile phone should also go for holiday during holidays or week ends. Depends upon your wish and way of thinking. We may be suffering a while by the calls during holidays or if don't pick up the calls during holidays , we'll suffer longer time after holidays.
After all, A Manager is being paid not only because of his role but responsibilities as well.
Pada Cik Fame Pn Noor Jahan dan Encik Azaman, thank you. Pagi ni saya tergelak besar membaca komen you all dalam entri Tiger Wong. Ha ha ha ha, pasal saya nyanyi lagu Jamal , hari ahad hujan tak berhenti henti ya.. sampai banjir Johor ha ha ha ha.
Selangor tak de lak banjir ya...he he he saja usik. Teruk juga banjir di Johor ya. Encik Azaman juga seorang sifu. Tergelak saya bila you tulis Long Sifu. Mr Long, ha ha ha Walking Tall. Kalau nak rescue team kat Johor nanti beritahu lah ya... ha ha ha, sorry lama dah tak gurau dengan Encik Azaman.

Ohh,.. sekarang dah jadi Training Officer kat Vistana Hotel KL ya... good. Tahniah dah bejaya tamat kan Diploma in HR ya. Saya pernah ada program latihan di situ, ok nanti saya lawat. Boleh, leadership taining program tak ada masalah.

I might have a bit of a different opinion in this case. I do not deny that handphones are the most important communication tools around now, especially to those that need to be readily contacted. However, one need to decide the line when it will start to encroach one's personal life.
It is just not worth it, because of job you jeopardize your family life. You must be able to balance that.Yes we will think about the company, what if they got burnt down, what if line stop,etc; but will the company think about you when you are in trouble?
I am not asking to shut off the phone during holidays and not receiving any calls from the company, but balance it with your family. You will know your limit. Don't ever die for a company.
